
Freakin Dash, number three, was third at the start but first at the finish in the Oklahoma Bred Quarter Horse Championship Stakes Saturday at Blue Ribbon Downs in Sallisaw. Jimmy Brooks was riding the filly for owner Joel Pierce of Sallisaw, who collected $18,292 from a $31,000 purse. Freaking Dash ran the 400 yards in 19.78 and earned a 97 Speed Index for her efforts. Matt Whitekiller of Sallisaw trains the filly. Kitty D Ville, number 1, was second in 19.81, and Heza Chico was third in 19.91. Saturday was the last day of racing at Blue Ribbon Downs, after the Choctaw Nation announced they were closing the racetrack, Oklahoma’s first modern-day pari-mutuel racetrack, at the close of this fall race meet.
