Concrete truck driver is killed in collision
A collision that occurred on Oct. 18 has claimed the life of a Haskell man, according to an accident report issued by the Department of Public Safety.
Royce Harp, 53, was reportedly driving a 2002 Kenworth concrete truck northbound on Highway 10A, 1/10 mile east of Manns Drive, and one mile south of Aqua Park, going up a steep hill but the truck was too heavy to make it.
Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper Joan Alvarez said while the truck was rolling backward, it ran over Harp and went down an embankment.
Harp was transported by Pafford EMS to Northeast Hospital in Sallisaw where he was pronounced deceased.
The trooper listed “too heavy to make it up the highway grade” as the cause of the collision.
Alvarez was assisted by Trooper Tim Parrish, Lt. Sheldon Dobbs, Trooper Adam Wood, and Pafford EMS.
