John W. Adair
Captain 1965-1996 Son of Corrigan and Velma Adair John Completed preflight in 1965, commissioned, receiving his wings in January 1966. He completed 3 combat tours to the western Pacific, serving aboard the USS Enterprise and the USS America. He flew 225 combat missions in Vietnam. He took command of NRA USS Carl Vinson in 1989 as the first commanding officer. He earned 14 air medals, Air Gallantry Medal, Vietnamese Gallantry Medal, Vietnamese Gallantry Cross, and Navy Unit Citation with two stars. He retired in 1996.
