Creating ugly Christmas sweaters
The hallways at Roland Middle School are starting to look festive thanks to Mrs. Sutterfield's science lab classes. The science lab students created ugly Christmas sweaters using the project based learning method. Each group of students were given a budget of $20 in play money to create their project. The students first had to create a blueprint of what their design would look like and then replicate the design onto fabric using the materials they bought. The fabric first had to be measured, ironed and cut before the design process could begin. This project also involved cross curriculum learning allowing the students to integrate multiple fields of study.
