Officials dedicate Redwood Road
A ribbon cutting and dedication for Redwood Road (East 1070 Road) was held Thursday with Sequoyah County District 3 Commissioner Jim Rogers and representatives from EST Engineering, who gathered near Central Fire Department along with other county officials and residents from the community gathering for the road dedication.
Rogers said the $3.3 million CIRB project was an ongoing project he inherited 13 years ago when he became commissioner. The two-mile project was completed in November 2022.
Taking part in the dedication ceremony with Rogers included former District 3 Commissioner Bruce Tabor, Sequoyah County Clerk Julie Haywood, Alfred Fullbright, Antony Atencio (EST), Wynona Burney, Emma Sue Brock, Scott Brians (Eastern Oklahoma Circuit Engineering District 2), Carla Bonner (EST), Lavonn Stites, road foreman Calvin Teague and Tyler Root (EST).
Rogers said he invited “Grannie Burney” Brock and Fullbright to take part in the dedication as “pillars” of the community, and said he is very thankful for the new road.
