Black Diamonds finish 2nd in Paul Post Tournament, crown 3 champions
2 Vian wrestlers place; Gore has 4 wrestlers compete
The Sallisaw Black Diamonds wrestling team finished second to Class 3A’s top-ranked Marlow Outlaws at last weekend’s 63rd annual Paul Post Tournament, which took place Friday and Saturday at Paul Post Field House.
The Black Diamonds crowned three champions — Cason Craft at 106 pounds, Mattix Casebolt at 120 and Bodie Adams at 165.
Morgan Duke (113 pounds) and Noah Flores (215) were runners-up, while Mason Duke (132) and Cole Mayfield (150) were third.
Caden Pollard was fourth at 190 pounds, Hunter Smith was fifth and Kolten Riggs seventh at 175 and Brody Mills was eighth at 157.
Two Vian Wolverines wrestlers placed as Gunner Richey was fourth at 144 pounds, while teammate Clay Clark was sixth at heavyweight.
The Gore Pirates had four participants, but they just missed out on placing. The Pirates were represented by Devon Mannon (157 pounds), Bladin McCartney (175), Antonio Parker (215) and Kaydin McCartney (heavyweight).
Sallisaw’s, Vian’s and Gore’s wrestlers will participate in the 2024 Maverick Conference Tournament, which will take place Friday and Saturday in Poteau.
