Vian wrestler wins state title; 10 total members place
OKLAHOMA CITY — Vian Wrestling Club member Joely Hunt was crowned a state champion during last weekend’s Oklahoma Kids Wrestling Association (OKWA) State Tournament, which took place Friday and Saturday at Jim Norick State Fair Arena. Hunt won the title at 88 pounds in the girls age 10-and-younger division.
All total, 10 Vian Wrestling Club members placed at state.
Cara Prock was third at 98 pounds in the girls age 12-and-younger division, while Lex Branham was fourth at 131 at age 10-and-younger.
Madalynn Turman (75 pounds, girls age 8-and-younger), Harlea Lucas (58, girls age 8-and-younger), Bronc Sumpter (85, age 10-and-younger) and Daxton Stewart (67, age 10-and-younger) were all fifth.
Axl Branham was sixth at 130 pounds in the age 12-and-younger division), Carissa Prock — who is competing in the Class 5A High School Girls State Wrestling Tournament this weekend at Jim Norick State Fair Arena — was seventh at 126 pounds in the girls age 15-and-younger division and Rocky Ford was seventh at 100 pounds in the age 10-and-younger age division.
