Pirates win first game of baseball season
The Gore Pirates won their first game of the 2024 baseball season with a 13-5 home win over Porter Consolidated on Tuesday night in a battle of Pirates.
After Porter Consolidated broke a scoreless tie with a five-run fourth inning, Gore (1-2) erupted for a single run in the fourth inning, eight runs in the fifth inning and four runs in the sixth inning to put the game into run-rule status.
For the game, Keeton Rowe was 2-for-4 with a double, two runs batted in and a run scored, while James Brasuel doubled with two runs scored and an RBI. Tate Brooksher, Hunter McGee and Kyler McGee all singled with McGee recording an RBI along with Dayton Smith getting an RBI and Keiden Denton getting two RBIs.
Smith (1-1) got his first win of the season, going the first five innings with eight strikeouts. Brooksher got the final two outs of the game, one of which came by strikeout.
After playing a home game against Gans on Thursday, the Pirates will meet next-door neighbor Webbers Falls at 6 tonight in Webbers Falls before a 5 p.m. Monday home game against Tulsa Regent Prep and a 4:30 p.m. Tuesday home game against Keota.
