Local duo makes OGBCA All-State; Medicine Bird named a Class 3A All-Star
Two local girls high school basketball players were named to the 2024 Oklahoma Girls Basketball Coaches Association All-State Team — Roland’s Lilly Medicine Bird and Muldrow’s Kennedi “Kiki” Wight.
Medicine Bird, who originally was an OGBCA All-State alternate but got the call Thursday night that she made All-State status, and the Lady Rangers finished the 2023-24 season with a record of 20-7 and made it to the Class 3A State Tournament last month, where they lost 45-37 to Norman Community Christian School in the state quarterfinals. The 2024 OGBCA All-State Games will take place the first weekend of June.
Wight, who only was able to play during the first half of this past season due to a knee injury, and the Lady Bulldogs finished 17-10 and made it to the Class 4A Area Tournament consolation quarterfinals.
Roland Rangers basketball player Carson Wiggins was named to the Oklahoma Coaches Association’s Class 3A All-Star-by-Class list last week, making the Arkansas baseball signee a candidate for the OCA East All-State Team for the 2024 OCA All-State Games that will take place the last week of July.
Wiggins and the Rangers finished this past season with a record of 21-6 and made it to the Class 3A Area Tournament consolation semifinals.
