Sallisaw competes at Vinita Invitational

VINITA — The Sallisaw High School track teams might have gotten a sneak peak at their regional meet venue as they participated in Tuesday’s Vinita Invitational.

Sallisaw saw one track athlete win a title as Lady Diamond sprinter Kayli Macon won the 200-meter dash (27.26 seconds).

As for other Lady Diamonds, Abby Kate Qualls was third (13.34 seconds), Ellie Martin was 34th (14.6) and Ava Armstrong was 40th (14.7) in the 100-meter dash, Hannah Palmer was third in the long jump (15-10), Sydney Weedon was sixth in the 100-meter hurdles (18.22) and eighth in the 300-meter hurdles (51.62), Channing Wilson was fifth (32-3), Macie Gremillion was sixth (31-8) and Addy Orendorff was 47th (22-10) in the shot put, Kylie Holt was seventh (1:06.68), Michelle Laudan was 29th (1:13.8), Casey Brackett was 32nd (1:14.23) and Hailey Birdtail was 45th (1:20.72) in the 400-meter dash, Holt was 22nd (2:53.65) and Birdtail was 48th (3:23.6) in the 800-meter run, Gremillion was 23rd (72-7) and Wilson 42nd (62-0) in the discus and Birdtail was 30th in the 1,600-meter run (8:09.74).

The Lady Diamonds were runners-up in two of their three relay events.

Jazmyne Wright, Qualls, Emma Martin and Macon were second in the 400-meter relay (51.84 seconds), while the foursome of Wright, Qualls, Palmer and Macon was second in the 800-meter relay (1:49.08).

Macon, Palmer, Holt and Wright were fifth in the 1,600-meter relay (4:30.29).

The highest Sallisaw Black Diamond to place individually was Aaron File, who was second in the 200-meter dash (23.72 seconds), with teammates Cooper Cox finishing 13th (24.26) and Kenyah Hill placing 31st (25.58).

As for other Black Diamonds, Jodai Sama Salinas was sixth (11:23.64), Jonas Reid was ninth (12:07.38) and Alex Gregory was 22nd (13:56.01) in the 3,200-meter run, Tyler File was 10th in the 110-meter hurdles (18.8 seconds) and 14th in the 300-meter hurdles (47.28), Cannon Martindale was 13th (111-10.5), Austin File was 24th (103-9) and Bodie Adams was 52nd (82-2) in the discus, Martindale was 16th (5:32.26), Dawson Glover was 34th (6:11.89) and Gregory was 36th (6:17.7) in the 1,600-meter run, Hill was 21st (12.10) and Jackson Harris was 35th (12.54) in the 100-meter dash, Cash Mayfield was 22nd (2:25.4), Parker Frederick was 31st (2:28.64) and Sean Laudan was 48th (2:38.49) in the 800-meter run, Caden Blount was 36th (33-1.5) and Zyler Rogers was 38th (32-5.5) in the shot put, Ethan Wilhite was 41st (1:03.26) and Morgan Duke was 53rd (1:08.57) in the 400-meter dash.

The Black Diamonds saw all four relays place, with the highest team to place being the quartet of Aaron File, Cox, Austin File and Hill who were sixth in the 400-meter relay (45.94 seconds).

Aaron File, Cox, Hill and Austin File were seventh in the 800-meter relay (1:35.74), Aaron File, Ish Patel, Mayfield and Austin File were ninth in the 1,600-meter relay (3:51.99) and Reid, Salinas, Mayfield and Patel were 10th in the 3,200-meter relay (9:46.31).

The Sallisaw track teams, along with Muldrow’s, Central’s, Vian’s and Gore’s squads, were slated to be at Thursday’s Warner Invitational.

As for today, the Roland tracksters will participate at the Mounds Invitational, while the Vian, Gore, Gans and Webbers Falls teams will be at the Porter Consolidated Invitational at 10 this morning.

This week will conclude regular-season meets as regional meets will take place next Friday and Saturday.
