Sallisaw, Roland baseball players make All-State team
Two local high school baseball players, Sallisaw’s Brock Streun and Roland’s Carson Wiggins, were named to the 2024 Oklahoma Coaches Association Middle East Baseball Team.
Streun, who was named the All-District 4A-6 Player of the Year and signed a letter of intent with Crowder College in Neosho, Mo., on Thursday afternoon, batted .539 with four home runs and an on-base percentage of .657. On the mound, he was 3-1 pitching. Wiggins, a University of Arkansas signee, went 3-2 this season with 93 strikeouts. When he pitched at home, which he mostly did, there were several Major League Baseball scouts in attendance with radar guns. In fact, in his pitching debate this season on March 12 at home vs. Spiro, 28 MLB scouts were in attendance.
The 2024 Middle School All-State Baseball Game will take place at 1 p.m. June 2 at Enid’s David Allen Memorial Ballpark.
