DALLAS — In their second top- 25 match- up of the week, the Oral Roberts University Golden Eagles soccer team ventured into the heart of Texas to take on the 25t- ranked Southern Methodist University Mustangs at the Washburne Soccer and Track Stadium.
Joao Mesquita would be called to take over goalkeeping duties and the senior from San Paulo would keep the Mustangs ( 1- 0- 1) at bay sending the home squad into the half scoreless.
When play later resumed, the Golden Eagles ( 0- 11) would get on the board first off a goal by Jose Estrada off a beautiful through ball from Damani Harris.
However SMU was able to find an equalizer shortly after as they would barely stay onside to get the equalizer.
With 20 minutes to go, momentum was completely neutral as both sides got chances to steal the game but ultimately time ran out before a winner could emerge.
The Golden Eagles are back in action at 8: 15 p. m. Thursday as they take on Cal Poly in their 2024 home opener.
