Cherokee Nation, Oklahoma governor agree to tribal tag compact
After months of negotiations, Cherokee Nation leaders and Gov. Kevin Stitt announced Tuesday that they have reached a new motor vehicle tag compact.
The tentative compact needs the approval of the Council of the Cherokee Nation and the Oklahoma Legislature’s Joint Committee on State-Tribal Relations. Both sides said that approval is expected by the end of the year.
