Oklahoma Sen. Markwayne Mullin fired what might be the first shot in a war on generals.

Mullin, an Oklahoma Republican, blocked the promotion of Lt. Gen. Christopher T. Donahue, who commanded U.S. troops during the final days of the Afghanistan withdrawal. Mullin’s hold on Donahue’s promotion to four-star general comes amid criticism of the Biden administration’s handling of the evacuation, though the process began under former President Donald Trump.
