Opposition voiced against checking students’ immigration status in schools
OKLAHOMA CITY — A proposal to require Oklahoma students to verify their immigration status while enrolling in public schools drew more than an hour of opposition during a hearing last week.
The Oklahoma State Board of Education is expected to vote Jan. 28 on the proposed rule, along with six other suggested changes to the state’s administrative codes, which have the force of law once enacted.
