Sallisaw baseball player signs letter of intent with Seminole State
Sallisaw baseball player Connor Green secured his future playing career as he signed a letter of intent with Seminole State College in a signing ceremony Wednesday morning at Paul Post Field House.
“They were one of the first ones to give me a chance,” Green said. “They reached out to me and saw something in me. I liked (the college) a lot. I want to give back to them as they did to me. They just showed me love, and I appreciated that. I felt like that was the place to be.”
“It’s a good representation of our program getting him signed,” Sallisaw baseball coach Curtis Wartchow said. “He’s going to a good university. He’s a good student and a hard-working kid. He works hard in the weight room and on the field.”
Green said all of this is because of God.
“I’m very excited,” he said. “It’s a blessing. God has let me play this game. I just owe it all to him. I wouldn’t be here today if it wasn’t for Him. I’m looking forward to getting there, getting to work and compete.”
Wartchow said he wishes Green would be around longer, but he knows Seminole State is getting a quality player.
“It’s going to be a big loss,” he said. “He’ll be very effective for their program. He’ll probably have a chance to play right off, produce and represent us.”
