Black Diamond player signs letter of intent with NEO
Sallisaw football senior Caden Cowan knew he wanted two things — first, to continue playing football at the next level and, secondly, to do so at the best school he could. Cowan made good on both aspects when he signed a letter of intent with Northeastern Oklahoma A&M in Miami during a signing ceremony Monday morning at Paul Post Field House.
“It was just a smart decision for me,” Cowan said. “I’m going to be able to get more development going. Hopefully, afterwards, I’ll get to transfer out to a bigger school. I just thought NEO would be the best place to help me develop the most.”
“I’m very excited for Caden,” Sallisaw football coach Brandon Tyler said. “NEO is a tradition-rich program. He’s going to go up there and play, and I’m expecting big things out of him. I’m excited to see what his future holds up there. He had a great year for us. He’s being rewarded for his hard work. Not only is he a good football player, but he’s also a great human being. I enjoyed my one year I got to spend with him.”
Now, Cowan will be able to live out the dream of playing college football.
“That was really the main goal for me,” he said. “I wanted to keep playing and compete at a higher level after that.”
In fact, the Sallisaw senior cannot wait to get to Miami and hit the gridiron.
“I’m very excited to hurry up and get there,” Cowan said. “I already miss playing football right now. I”m ready to get there.”
“He knows what it takes,” Tyler said. “College football is not for everyone. I believe he will be very successful at the next level. I think he’ll have a great collegiate career, and we’ll see where he goes from there. I’m excited for he and his family as he will get to play at the next level.”
