Extreme cold, ice and snow conditions continue
Sequoyah County Emergency Management has issued the following warning regarding the brutal temperatures and snow/ice this week.
AN EXTREME COLD WATCH IS IN EFFECT FROM THROUGH THURSDAY MORNING
• WHAT
Dangerously cold wind chills as low as 15 below zero possible.
• WHERE
Portions of northwest and west central Arkansas and east central, northeast and southeast Oklahoma.
• WHEN
Through Thursday morning.
• IMPACTS
The cold wind chills as low as 15 below zero could result in hypothermia or frostbite if precautions are not taken. If possible, stay home. Especially if ice coats the area, avoid driving.
• PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS
To prevent water pipes from freezing, wrap or drain or allow them to drip slowly.
Make sure outdoor animals have a warm, dry shelter, food and unfrozen water.
