Lady Diamonds powerlifting team qualifies 5 for state; Roland duo misses out on state berths
The Sallisaw Lady Diamonds powerlifting team qualified five members to next Monday’s Class 4A State Meet in Durant after strong showings at the regional meet in Fairview.
In the high school division, Delaney Compton (790 pounds lifted total) and Loukonnia Davis (815) each were their respective weight division’s regional champion.
In the junior high division, Carmen Cude (740 pounds lifted total) was a regional champion, and Aubrey Webb (700) was a regional runner-up.
Compton, Davis, Cude and Webb all earned bids to state by finishing in the top three in their respective weight divisions.
A third Sallisaw JH powerlifting got an at-large bid as Kadence Watts was fourth with 555 pounds lifted total.
As for other Sallisaw lifters, Kayla Bush lifted 470 pounds total in the high school division.
Cantrell
In the JH division for Sallisaw, Gabby McFarland was fifth (250 pounds lifted total), Melania Duke was eighth (455) and Jimma Carlin was 10th (440). Braylee McEver (455 pounds lifted total) and Sydney Busch (435) did not place. At the Class 3A Regional Meet in Tishomingo on Monday, two firsttime Roland Lady Rangers powerlifters, Mira Reagan and Jestina Cantrell, competed.
Reagan was ninth in her weight division, while Cantrell was 15th. Neither Lady Ranger qualified for state.
