Former Roland Rangers baseball pitcher Carson Wiggins is off to a good start in his freshman season with the Arkansas Razorbacks.
Wiggins has pitched in four games as a reliever, one appearance apiece against Washington State on Feb. 15, against Michigan on Feb. 23, against Grambling on Feb. 25 and last Saturday against North Carolina-Charlotte.
Against Washington State, Wiggins pitched the final inning to record his first-ever collegiate save with a strikeout.
Against Michigan, Wiggins gave up a hit and a run, while he pitched an inning against Grambling with a strikeout.
Against UNC-Charlotte, Wiggins got his second save as he pitched the final inning with two Ks. So far this season, Wiggins’ earned-run average is at 3.00 with four strikeouts. The third-ranked Hogs (12 1), who completed a midweek two-game sweep of Louisiana-Monroe by winning Tuesday’s suspended game 14-1 in seven innings and 15-3 in seven innings on Wednesday, will begin a three-game home series against the Portland Pilots of the West Coast Conference at Baum-Walker Stadium this afternoon at 3 p.m., followed by a single game at 2 p.m. Saturday and a single game at noon Sunday.
