Sallisaw defeats Latta in SE Shootout after blanking Inola
HUGO — The Sallisaw Black Diamonds ran their record to 5-0 to begin the season with a 13-4 victory over the Latta Panthers on Monday at the 2025 Southeast Shootout.
The Black Diamonds broke a scoreless tie with a pair of three-run innings in the second and third innings for a 6-0 lead. After the Panthers cut their deficit to 6-4 in the fourth inning, the Black Diamonds put the game into run-rule status with a pair of single runs in the fourth and fifth innings and a five-run sixth inning.
For the game, Dagan Grizzle was 2-for-2 with his first home run of the season and three runs scored, Easton Wolfe was 2-for-4 with a double, four runs batted in and a run scored, Johnny Velasquez was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs and Creed Nelson doubled with an RBI and a run scored for Sallisaw.
Nelson (3-0) got the win, going the first 3.1 innings with a strikeout. Rylan Eagle went the next 1.2 innings with two Ks, then Brodie Cameron got the final three outs, one of which came by strikeout.
After playing Coweta on Tuesday afternoon in Broken Bow, the Black Diamonds will meet host Valliant at 6:30 tonight and then face Hartshorne at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in Battiest.
SALLISAW 5, INOLA 0
Thursday afternoon in Inola, the Black Diamonds got a combined three-hitter from Creed Nelson, Kase Adams and Rylan Eagle.
Nelson got the win, going the first four innings with six strikeouts. Adams pitched the fifth inning with two Ks, then Eagle went the final two innings with three strikeouts.
The Black Diamonds scored once in the first inning, once in the fifth inning and three runs in the sixth inning.
For the game, Easton Wolfe was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and a run batted in, Brodie Cameron singled and scored once, Eagle and Broque Oft each singled and Connor Green had an RBI.
MULDROW 8, CENTRAL 2
Monday afternoon at Central High School, the Bulldogs (3-5) rallied from a 1-0 first-inning deficit with a pair of three-run innings in the third and fourth innings to take the lead for good at 6-1.
For the game, Gabe Miller was 2-for-4 with a run scored, Jonah Claborn was 2-for-4 with a double, a run batted in and a run scored, Jace Prewett was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI and Brody Israel doubled with an RBI and a run scored for the ’Dogs, who had their Friday road game at Muskogee canceled due to the windy weather conditions.
Prewett (1-1) got his first win of the season, going the first three innings with two strikeouts. Claborn got his first save of the season, going the final four innings with nine Ks.
In defeat, Hardy Buzzard doubled with an RBI, Ryker Miller doubled and Waylen Campbell had an RBI for the Tigers (3-4).
Miller (0-1) suffered the loss, going the first 4.1 innings with eight strikeouts. Campbell went the final 2.2 innings with three Ks.
VIAN 10, GORE 7
VIAN 11, BARNSDALL 0
Saturday at the Dewar Baseball Festival, the Wolverines (6-3) won both of their games on the final day of the event, which saw Friday’s games canceled due to the windy weather conditions.
In the win over Gore, the Wolverines rallied from a 6-1 second-inning deficit with a six-run second inning and a single run in the third inning to take an 8-6 lead. After the Pirates (52) cut their deficit to 8-7 with a run in the fourth inning, the Wolverines got two big insurance runs in their half of the fourth inning.
For the game, Draighton Fletcher was 3-for-4 with two doubles, his second homer, three runs batted in and three runs scored, Riley Ellis was 3-for-4 with two doubles, two RBIs and a run scored and Chris Cheater was 2-for-2 with two runs scored and an RBI for Vian.
Manny Terrill (2-0) got the win in relief, going the final 3.2 innings with eight strikeouts. Ellis started and went the first 1.1 innings with four Ks.
In defeat, James Brasuell doubled with four RBIs for Gore.
Brasuell (21) suffered his first loss of the season, despite fanning four batters in three innings. Gage Dame went the final 1.1 innings with a strikeout.
In Vian’s victory over Barnsdall, Michael Polecat (2-1) threw a six-inning fivehitter with nine strikeouts.
The Wolverines broke a scoreless tie with a two-run third inning and a four-run fourth inning for a 6-0 lead. A five-run sixth inning put the game into run-rule status.
For the contest, Ellis was 2-for-3 with two doubles, two RBIs and a run scored, Jeremiah Marshall was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI and Fletcher tripled with three RBIs and three runs scored for Vian.
MULDROW 10, FORT GIBSON 2
Thursday afternoon in Muldrow, after the Tigers scored once in the top of the first inning for a 1-0 lead, the Bulldogs scored twice in their half of the frame, once in the second inning, six runs in the third inning and another single run in the fourth inning for a 10-1 lead to put the game into run-rule status.
For the contest, Gabe Miller doubled and scored twice, while Jonah Claborn tripled with three runs batted in for the ’Dogs.
Claborn (1-1) got his first win of the season, striking out nine Tigers in five innings and throwing a twohitter.
VIAN 17, WAGONER 13
Thursday in Wagoner, the Wolverines broke a 9-all tie after three innings with a seven-run fourth inning and a single run in the fifth inning to take a 17-9 lead in the fifth inning.
For the game, Draighton Fletcher was 3-for-5 with with a double, his first home run of the season, four runs batted in and three runs scored, Manny Terrill was 2-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored, Michael Polecat doubled with three RBIs and three runs scored and Riley Ellis doubled with two RBIs for Vian.
Clayton Thomas (1-0) got his first win of the season in relief, pitching 1.2 innings. Kaden Fulbright started, and only got two outs in the opening inning — one of which was by strikeout. Chris Cheater got the next three outs, one of which was by strikeout. Jeremiah Marshall went the next 1.1 innings after Thomas and recorded a strikeout. Fletcher went the final 2.1 innings.

GORE 11, BARNSDALL 5
Thursday at the Dewar Baseball Festival, the Pirates, who had their Monday home game against Porum and Tuesday home game against New Lima canceled, opened play in the three-day event with two wins.
In the victory over Moss in a battle of Pirates, Gore broke a 2-all tie with a four-run second inning to take a 6-2 lead after two innings. Moss scored twice in the fourth inning to cut the deficit to 6-4 after four innings but got no closer.
For the game, James Brasuell doubled with two runs batted in for Gore.
Brasuell got the win, getting six strikeouts in five innings. Gage Dame got the save, going the final inning with a strikeout.
In the win over Barnsdall, the Pirates rallied from a 3-0 first-inning deficit with a single run in the first inning and five runs in the third inning to take the lead for good at 6-3 after three innings. After the Panthers cut their deficit to 6-5 in the fifth inning, the Pirates sealed the deal with a five-run fifth inning — with four of those runs coming on Tate Brooksher’s grand-slam home run For the game, Brooksher was 2-for-3 with his first homer of the season, five RBIs and three runs scored, Dane Gates was 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored and Kason Short doubled with two RBIs for Gore.
McKennon McElhaney (1-1) got his first win of the season, going the first 4.2 innings with two strikeouts. Dame got the final out of the game.
HULBERT 17, WEBBERS FALLS 3
Monday at Eual Carter Sports Complex, the Riders scored three runs in each of the first two innings for a 6-0 lead. After the Warriors (25) cut their deficit to 6-2 after three innings, the Riders put the game into run-rule status with an 11-run fifth inning.
In defeat, Aiden Turley and Zane Nolan each singled for the only hits for the Warriors, who had their Friday home game with Porum canceled as well as their games in Tuesday’s road three-way at Central with Talihina due to too many players being gone to the Oklahoma Youth Expo in Oklahoma City.
Ryan Cowan (0-1) suffered the loss, despite getting three strikeouts in four innings. After Gunner Shelby got the next two outs, one of which was by strikeout, Luke Pierce got the last out on a strikeout.
SPIRO 18, CENTRAL 5, 3 INN.
Thursday in Spiro, after the Tigers scored three runs in the first inning, the Bulldogs put away the game with a 13-run first inning and a fiverun second inning for an 18-3 lead after two innings.
In defeat, Kiefer Bailey, Ryker Miller, Kyle Harden and Waylen Campbell each singled and scored once, Paitton Merrill and Kyle Harden each singled with a run batted in, Kage Poindexter and Xhaiden Mosby each singled and Hardy Buzzard had an RBI for Central.
Buzzard (0-3) suffered the loss, only getting the first two outs of the game, one of which was by strikeout. Harden went the final 1.1 innings with a strikeout.
KEOTA 11, WEBBERS FALLS 7
Thursday at Eual Carter Sports Complex, the Lions rallied from a 3-1 first-inning deficit with a three-run third inning and a fourrun fifth inning to take a 8-3 lead. The Warriors cut their deficit to four runs three times over the late innings, the last time at 11-7 in the seventh inning, but got no closer.
In defeat, Gunner Shelby doubled with two runs scored, Trysten Wilbourn tripled with two runs scored and an RBI and Zane Nolan had a single with two RBIs.
Elliott Kunkel (1-2) took the loss, going five innings with five strikeouts. Shelby went the final two innings with three Ks.
