Sallisaw three-peat champion named OCA All-Stater
Lady Diamond wrestler named an All-State alternate
Sallisaw Black Diamonds senior wrestler and threetime state champion Cole Mayfield will have one more high school wrestling match to be a part of before heading to become a University of Central Oklahoma Broncho.
Mayfield was named on Friday as one of the members of the 2025 Oklahoma Coaches Association Small East Team for the 2025 All-State Games, which will take place the last week of July.
Mayfield three-peated as a state champion last month when he won the Class 4A State Tournament title at 157 pounds after doing so at 150 the previous two seasons — as a junior as a Sallisaw Black Diamond and as a sophomore as a Warner Eagle.
Sallisaw Lady Diamond wrestler Lana Petree was named a Class 5A Girls East All-State Team alternate as she made the Class 5A All-Star by Class List. Should a current member of the East All-State Girls Team be unable to participate in the OCA Girls Wrestling Dual in late July, Petree, who returned to the Lady Diamonds lineup after sitting out the last two years since she competed competitively as a freshman, could be called up to fill the void.
