Mother Nature rains out most of last week’s athletic events
Mother Nature literally rained on most of the local high school athletic scenes’ parade last week as just about everything from last Wednesday through Saturday were all canceled by the multiple-days worth of rain showers.
All three baseball tournaments that featured local teams — the Hillsdale-Fort Gibson Shootout for the Sallisaw Black Diamonds, the two-day Muldrow Baseball Festival featuring the host Bulldogs, Roland and Central and the Dewar Baseball Joe Fowler Gumbo Classic for the Gore Pirates — all were rained out completely and will not be rescheduled.
Thursday high school non-tournament baseball games rained out were Stilwell at Vian and Webbers Falls at Okay, while Vian’s home three-way with Cameron and Okmulgee and Webbers Falls’ home baseball game were rained out on Friday.
Thursday’s Central-Muldrow slow-pitch softball game was rained out.
Friday’s Okemah Invitational track meet, which was to feature the Central and Gore track athletes, was canceled by rain.
Three golf tournaments featuring local golfers were rained out last week.
Last Wednesday’s Tahlequah Girls Invitational, which was to feature the Muldrow Lady Bulldogs and the Roland Lady Rangers, was canceled by rain.
Thursday’s Heavener Invitational, which was to feature both the Muldrow Lady Bulldogs and ’Dogs, got postponed by rain and rescheduled for 9 a.m. April 21 at Wolf Mountain Country Club west of Poteau.
Friday’s Wagoner Boys Invitational for the Bulldogs got postponed by rain and rescheduled for 9 a.m. Friday at Sequoyah State Park Golf Course.
