Sallisaw splits road games in Tulsa
TULSA — The Sallisaw High School soccer teams split their road District 4A-4 games against two different Tulsa teams on Tuesday night.
The Black Diamonds beat the Tulsa Cascia Hall Commandos 5-2 to end the night, but the Lady Diamonds fell 5-0 to the Tulsa Metro Christian Lady Patriots.
In the boys’ match, Wes Rodriguez had another hat trick of three goals, while Cesar Morales and Phillip Hennessee each had a goal for the Black Diamonds (8-0 overall, 2-0 in district play). Josh Taylor made 12 saves on the night.
In the girls’ match, while no one scored, goalkeeper Jocelyn Rivera made 75 percent of her save opportunities for the Lady Diamonds (5-3, 0-2) as she made 15 saves while allowing five goals.
Both Sallisaw soccer teams will be home this evening for Senior Night district matches against Tulsa McLain, with the girls’ match at 5 p.m. and the boys’ contest at 7 p.m. Senior Night festivities will take place in between matches.
